Metzner Roughing Stations

The Metzner AS 1 and AS 2 roughing stations are high-performance and precise devices for roughing PUR cables. Thanks to intelligent integration in a cable processing line, roughing is carried out without losing cycle time.
The processing of sensor cables which are predominantly used for ABS or ESP sensors puts special demands on the cable processing. Here, an important step in the process chain is the roughing of cable ends as a precondition for an air- and water-tight connection with the plug housing, which is manufactured later in an injection molding process. The Metzner AS 1 and AS 2 roughing stations complete the roughing procedure precisely, consistently and without losing cycle time. During processing, a centric cable clamp puts the cable into an exact processing position and one or two diamond-coated grinding wheels (depending on the device version) do the work quickly and exactly to the specified depth. The Metzner AS 1 and AS 2 roughing devices work with program control; both the rotational speed as well as the roughing depth can be freely defined. |

Different versions Metzner offers two versions for the automatic roughing of your cables: the Metzner AS 1 roughing station with one grinding wheel and the Metzner AS 2 roughing station with two grinding wheels. In the Metzner AS 2 device, the distance between the grinding wheels can be adjusted from 20 – 120 mm. The Metzner AS 2 device thus processes the both cable ends simultaneously, while the Metzner AS 1 device only processes one end of the cable at a time. To process both sides of the cable with the Metzner AS 1 device, the cable is repositioned after one side is processed.
