High quality demands are put on the processing of brake pressure hoses. Metzner developed a processing method, which not only fulfils the prescribed processing quality, but also reduces the production costs by means of just-in-time processing. Just-in-time. Hardly any other term is more important for company production logistics. After all, material which has to be warehoused costs money. Money which companies can often save when the material is only available when it's also needed. This way, warehouse space is reduced to a minimum, meaning much lower costs. Well thought-out production logistics are especially necessary for large companies.
The implementation The system processes up to five different PA hoses. The hoses are placed on dereeling plates before the beginning of production. Afterwards, feed devices and sag controls ensure tension-free transportation to the system during processing. A magazine integrated in the system is loaded with the hoses. This way, all hoses are always available during processing. The machine controls the hose magazine via a linear axis and pulls in the desired hose by means of a feed unit. The hose is then labelled on both sides with an ink-jet printer. A cutting module then ensures a clean first cut, as well as cutting to the desired length. A gripping arm deposits the hoses in a magazine. Depending on the required production, the process is repeated with the various hose diameters until a complete bundle of hoses comes together. The finished hose bundles are removed manually. Safety printing For quality assurance in further processing, the system applies with the ink-jet printer both the part number and two-dash marking. This marking guarantees that plug connections have been plugged to the required depth during later further processing. Finally, the system prints an inventory list with all hose data after the hose bundle has been completed. Nearly error-free The system works fully automatically, thanks to the integration in the existing IT network. The individual hose properties are called up and produced via a batch list program. Manual processing is eliminated. Based on this integration, the error rate during processing is greatly reduced, while the processing speed of the PA hoses is further increased thanks to the constant availability of all hoses. |
